Intergraph Spoolgen®
What is Intergraph Spoolgen?
Intergraph Spoolgen is a specialized software solution tailored for the piping industry, allowing the generation of isometric spool drawings for prefabrication and construction. It leverages digital piping data extracted from 3D plant or piping design systems. Widely used in industries such as oil & gas, power, and chemical processing, Spoolgen can function independently or integrate seamlessly with other elements of Hexagon’s all-encompassing digital procurement, fabrication, and construction platform.
Why Use Intergraph Spoolgen?
Rather than manually redlining and marking up paper IFC isometrics to identify spools for fabrication, the software leverages digital piping data in PCF format—exported from 3D plant and piping design tools—to automatically generate fabrication-ready spools that meet manufacturability standards. Intergraph Spoolgen can import piping design data from Intergraph Smart® 3D , CADWorx , and any other design systems that support PCF file export.
Spoolgen is not a design tool and does not permit changes to the 3D piping design. However, it allows users to define fabrication-ready piping spools by inserting new welds or modifying existing weld types—for example, converting shop welds to field welds—according to the specific requirements and capabilities of their fabrication facilities.
Spoolgen uses its integrated Isogen engine to automatically generate detailed spool drawings that include dimensions, weld locations, assembly instructions, and material take-offs. These drawings are packaged into work packs distributed to welders on the shop floor.
Intergraph Spoolgen helps companies streamline and automate their piping fabrication and construction workflows, driving greater accuracy, efficiency, and cost savings. By using Spoolgen, organizations can reduce time and expenses while improving precision in fabrication, non-destructive testing, quality assurance, and system installation.
